The Northwest campus community is made up of approximately 7,000 students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Our community is a large, diverse group of people from all over the world, with different capabilities and abilities.
As such, your most important role in an emergency is to share information and resources with your friends and campus community during an emergency. Make sure you work together, listen for and follow official instructions, get the information you need to be safe, and stay safe.
In addition, you should understand the following:
- The Northwest community members should familiarize themselves with the emergency procedures and evacuation routes posted in the buildings that you live in or use frequently.
- Community members must be prepared to assess situations quickly but thoroughly and use sound judgment in determining a course of action.
- Community members should evacuate buildings (except when otherwise instructed) when an alarm sounds or when directed to do so by emergency personnel.
- Community members should report all concerns or threatening statements made by others to University Police at 660-562-1254.
- Community members should report fires and other emergencies immediately to University Police at 660.562.1254.
- Follow the directions of the emergency communication system within the building, emergency personnel, faculty, and staff.
Reporting an Emergency
If you witness or are involved in an emergency at Northwest, call University Police at 660.562.1254. When 660.562.1254 is called, University Police personnel are dispatched to the scene.
